OUTTAKE – C’mon, it wasn’t THAT bad.

We also get to see that Shea maybe really does know how to drive, but she doesn’t want to. However seeing as this is not reality, I might keep Shea not driving. Here’s the thing. Shea isn’t supposed to know how to drive, but she is because of a mistake I made. With Anne getting sick and I didn’t want to leave them stranded at Navy’s place, I was forced to have Shea driving in order to get them home.
But the point of all this is to give you the most perfect example I have of how not being able to change my archives forces me to deal with mistakes in a way I don’t want to. It’s not to say that I couldn’t have gone back and fix the story so that things work out the way I want to, just ’cause that what I would have done. But just imagine if I set the rules so that I didn’t allow myself to alter my archives; if I had Shea explicitly state that she didn’t know how to drive, and then suddenly find myself in this situation where Anne and Shea are basically stranded, I would be screwed in every which way. Either I would have to force Shea to drive when she can’t, or I would be forced to leave them at Navy’s place, which is not what I want to do. However, with the power to alter the archives, I can remove where Shea said she couldn’t drive, or fix it so that Anne doesn’t get sick, or change one tiny other variable in order to make things work out the way I want them to. Hopefully you see what I’m getting at here… without the ability to reedit my archives, one tiny tiny little mistake will bring down the entire stack of cards. What kind of writer worth their weight in gold would allow that to happen??
