Moose River Regular – [13] Shea’s reality

Finally, the last of Shea’s backstory, which was likewise reused in the main series. However, I removed the Blackface scene and replaced it with one where Shea’s in a stereotypical Indian outfit. The change wasn’t so much because I thought the original was offensive as much as I wanted the new frame to reflect her own perspective on her own heritage. Specifically, Shea is an American Indian, although she’s super mixed, so she has no real specific background. Shea therefore simply called herself a “Hekawi Indian”, although she did learn how to speak Lakota growing up.

Anyways, the new main series page reuses the Dentist and Blue Suit scenes, albeit cleaned up slightly. THESE scenes were definitely ones which reflected Shea a lot better… but, again, they are different from the depiction of Shea just a couple pages back. Once again this shows how quickly I changed my mind about the story, but how I didn’t think about going back to update older pages, which in turn simply makes the story feel inconsistent and just all over the place.
