And then my friend Thad

Friday, September 5th, 2008

ive been up for 36 hrs. sleeeeeeep time

i dunno how i even managed to get it this far

OMG!! Now we know why Thad has been so… weird concerning socializing with the Red’s Mart group. It’s because Anne’s a part of that group and he wants to avoid her! But wait, why does he want to avoid Anne? Does he hate her? Is he afraid of her? Or is there some other reason? Does anyone actually know about Anne’s relationship with Thad such that they realize his reluctance to socialize is because of her? Or had Thad deliberately avoided acknowledging her just to make everyone think otherwise? I guarantee you’ll find out sometime very soon! And by very soon I mean, if my calculations are correct, the exact moment you’ll find out will be on the Monday, September 15th page. :)

BTW, have you been only catching my updates on Fridays? Well if you don’t already know, I’m trying to complete the rest of Chapter Six in order to release Moose River Book Two in time for the Alternative Press Expo, which is on November 1st and 2nd. This means I’m working extra hard to blitzkrieg pages out! I’ve actually posted two pages earlier in the week, one on Monday and the other Wednesday; if you didn’t catch them, you should certainly see to it! Furthermore you can 101% definitely, absolutely, positively expect new pages to be posted Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week and every week for the next six weeks, seeing as I need to complete twenty-something more pages in less than two months. Tres bien, non?

Of course this will also mean that after I finish Chapter Six I will be taking a slight break from drawing new pages in order to focus my time and energy on preparing for APE. This means compiling Book Two together, drawing up some new posters, and so forth. But once that’s said and done, I’ll be back to writing new pages on a regular basis once again. In’that grand? (^_^)

Now I’m just excited with the idea of finishing Book Two and starting work on Chapter Seven. That means my book is now two-thirds of the way finished and that all I need to do is hammer out three more chapters and I’ll finally be finished with this story. It also makes me wonder if I should make a Book Three once Chapters Seven, Eight and Nine are finished, or by that point just compile everything into a single, 300-ish page “Moose River” graphic novel? I suppose making a Book Three would be fair to those who bought Books One and Two, just so they wouldn’t need to re-buy Chapters One through Six. Though I suppose a Book Three would just be a limited run versus the grand scale release I plan for the final 300-ish page book.

Concerning the cover for Book Two, I’m thinking of repeating the whole “Main Character is dreaming a dream about someone while that someone is really there thinking the opposite” thing I did with Emo on the cover of Book One. With that in mind, I was considering using Shea getting her head shaved by a dream Brian (in tan) while the real Brian (in seagreen) is looking in disgust. The only issue with that is that whole thing took place in Chapter Three and is therefore unrelated to Book Two. Maybe instead I could have Shea in her Halloween costume with Dream Danzig-Brian rubbing her short hair while real Danzig-Brian is in the background looking in disgust. Whaddya think?

So other than work, how do you know each other?

Whoops! I fell asleep in the middle of coloring this one. But it was like one of those… “I’ll just close my eyes for a second” and then suddenly it’s 12NOON the next day kinda things.

Anyways you can still expect comics on MWF over the next several weeks. I have Friday and next Monday’s already scanned, and I’m gonna work on at least next Wednesday’s and Friday’s today… maybe I’ll even sneak in the Monday after next’s page as well. We’ll see what I can get done today. :)

Ah Claire,

WHAT?! Claire and Emo… TOGETHER?! How did this happen? Why is this happening?? Does this mean anything for Emo?? Let’s find out together!! … She does look a bit different than in the past, longer hair and all. This is her post-post-post-breakup look, right? It’s then only blatantly obvious that her short hair thing was all just for Emo, and it serves as just another reminder about how much she really was into him. :’(

BTW, Emo’s outfit comes courtesy of Porotto’s dress-up EMO boy flash thingy over at deviantART. There is a girl flavor as well, but I didn’t know about it until after I found reference material for Claire’s outfit. :( Oh well.

Well you’ll be happy to know that my plan to complete the rest of Chapter Six by doing three pages a week is so far going pretty well! I spend all Sunday drawing three pages in a row, which is a record in of itself, and it certainly fulfills this weeks quota in of itself. And I do plan on posting the other two pages on Wednesday and Friday as well. Friday’s page is going to reveal something major about two characters, it’s guaranteed to surprise. (^_^) …..though please don’t try to work out what’s going on by looking at the above picture and spoiling it for you. :(

In any case, I’m gonna try to work as fast as possible to complete this thing. I might even work on another page tonight, or spend another free day (like tomorrow) drawing up three more pages. I tell you, I haven’t been so inspired to work as much as I am right now in such a long time. I’m gonna make the most of this before this inspiration leaves me.

God what was going

Keep an eye out at Sudden Valley in the next few days as a guest comic of mine will (eventually) appear on the site! Nifty swell!

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I got sidetracked Sunday, so I wasn’t able to put pencil to paper to make a comic for Monday. I do have Monday-day off, so I’ll work on the next page and post it posthaste. I’m sleepy.

What I posted This is something my friend Martin got for me. I previously posted about the series Tales of Mere Existence by Lev Yilmaz. Lev is a relatively regular patron where Martin works, so he introduced Martin to it who in turn introduced me to it. I in turn genuinely fell in love with Lev’s work and is now an important source of inspiration for me. So it came as a pleasant surprise to me when Martin managed to get this little scrap of paper. Pretty nifty, huh? Thanks Lev!
